History
The Sea Captain Resort is an historic facility, having been the first motel to be built to the south of the Marina on Clearwater Beach.
Built in 1952-1953 by a local, well-known fisherman named Ernie Barger, the Sea Captain is uniquely located on one acre, with 340 feet of sea wall, 10 boat slips, and a small fishing pier. It faces the Clearwater Marina, the Intracoastal Seaway, and is only about 100 yards or so from the famous Clearwater Beach and Pier 60.
The Sea Captain Resort has been owned for close to 30 years by a retired dentist who lives locally. We take great pride in the preservation of the Sea Captain Resort and its grounds. If you like boating, fishing, and other water sports, you will enjoy our facilities with its central location and onsite parking.
We are proud members of the Superior Small Lodging, and we continue to receive consecutive White Glove Awards for our cleanliness.
